Toddler Program

A program for students 15 months - 2.9 years old.

Some refer to this developmental period as “The Terrible Twos.” We disagree; toddlers are terrific. We love everything about them – their energy, determination, and curiosity – and purposefully created a very special place for your toddler to learn.

An Environment Conducive to Learning

Where so many early childhood programs are chaotic and overwhelming, parents are often surprised to see the peaceful tone of our toddler classroom. The calm atmosphere and lack of distraction help your toddler to develop impulse control and concentration, planting the seeds for learning in this classroom and beyond.

A Community

Our students grow together into a close-knit, caring community. When children work, learn, and grow together, they learn much more than any of them could learn alone!

“Help Me To Do It Myself”

Your child has a natural desire for independence, and we nurture this by creating a warm, thoughtfully prepared environment where everything is just the right size for little hands and growing confidence. Child-sized tools invite your toddler to explore everyday tasks with joy—preparing a snack and sharing it with friends, sweeping up a spill with a tiny broom, and practicing self-care with gentle guidance. Through these experiences, your child gains not just practical skills, but a deep sense of confidence, belonging, and the joy of contributing to their community in a meaningful way.

A Beautiful Environment

Our bright and sunny toddler classrooms are specially designed for your child between the ages of 15 and 36 months. It is a world scaled down to your child’s size. Here, your child paints, cooks, waters the garden, sings songs with friends and plays with materials that develop fine and gross motor coordination.

Absorbing Language

Montessori language development is rooted in the understanding that every interaction is an opportunity for learning. During this once-in-a-lifetime period of rapid language growth, we surround your child with rich, meaningful conversation that nurtures both comprehension and expression.

Through gentle encouragement and thoughtful modeling, we help expand vocabulary in ways that feel natural and engaging. A child attempting to blow bubbles might hear, "Blow! Can you make the air move just like the wind?"—an invitation not just to explore, but to connect words with experiences.

Language in our Montessori environment is woven into daily life—from songs and stories to conversation and purposeful lessons. Children are introduced to the names of objects in their world, engage in sound games, and experience hands-on pre-reading and writing activities designed to spark curiosity and a love for communication.

This strong foundation in spoken language paves the way for reading, writing, and self-expression, empowering your child to share their thoughts, feelings, and ideas with confidence as they grow.

A Joyful Experience

Maria Montessori once said, “One test of the correctness of the educational procedure is the happiness of the child.” Take a peek into our Toddler classroom and you will see children who are happy, engaged, and deeply connected to their friends and teachers. As a result, your child develops a deep affinity for school and a true love for learning.

Ready to Move Up

Between 2 ½ and 3 years old, your child will experience a remarkable leap in language, confidence, independence, and curiosity. As they grow, they naturally begin to look beyond the Toddler Classroom, eager for new challenges and broader exploration.

When the time is right, children transition to the Primary Program (ages 3-6)—a thoughtfully prepared environment that nurtures their expanding abilities and love for learning. To ensure a smooth and intentional transition, we have designated move-up periods in September and January, and children must be at least 2 years, 9 months old to make this next exciting step.

If you think your child would thrive in a Montessori environment, give us a call or schedule a tour. We would love for you to visit our school and learn more.
